February 1st 2011, Egypt was still in the first week of the revolt against Mubarak and his corrupt regime. At that very stressful time for me, an Egyptian citizen living abroad, I was helpless, angry and anxious. I had to do something, anything to help out my people. I had no way of getting over there to protest myself, but was on my way to dropping everything I was doing and going there when an email from a friend of mine gave me hope. He knew some of the original organizers and told me that the revolution needed a face, and the anonymous organizers wanted a shirt that they could wear to know each other and stand strong with a powerful message that represents them during their protest. I was thrilled, finally I can contribute to the effort with my skill, and what an honor it was to be contacted by these brave souls, and what an honor it was to help them. I was in high spirits at last. I gave it my all, thinking about what would describe Egypt, and this powerful moment and researching and sketching and rendering as quickly as I could, and a few hours later that symbol was born, ready to fulfill its noble purpose and help topple a corrupt regime.
